I am sitting here in a house that I am holding open in the hopes of meeting people that are looking for a house to purchase either for their own home and life, or an investment to rent out and hold for the future. This is my 3rd such endeavor as it is an effective and inexpensive way to meet people that are looking or just to meet people. I am not picky or pushy with that. I want to meet people where they are in life. If they are lookylou's, then that is the part I want to serve. I want to build relationships.

I have to confess that I have not done all I should be doing over the past 2 months. Working nights at the hotel and trying to learn how to be a REALTOR has been challenging. It is not that I underestimated that challenge, I am just very ignorant of what I needed to be doing. The Broker office I have chosen has been AMAZING to me and it is now time for me to dig in and take advantage of all they offer. I am both excited and anxious about being my own boss. I have every tendency that can distract from actually doing the work that is necessary. That said, I believe that I am starting to put together an effective business plan that will lead to long term success. There are many tools and many people that are available to me to help me be successful. It is a great feeling. Now, I need to do the work that it takes.

So, here I am at the open house. Yesterday, I was here from 11 to 2:30 and no one came to see the property until 2:20. I was turning off the lights and packing up, determined to tell the listing agent that I was not going to waste Sunday afternoon with no one coming, but then they showed up. They seemed interested, but more than that, they were really looking for a place. They had spoken to another REALTOR but had not actually spoken to them other than introductions. I got them to sign in and they gave me an email address. So I have followed up with them and thanked them for coming out to the house. It begins.

I am also starting to "farm" a neighborhood near where I live. I will be getting my name out in the neighborhood with mailings and targeted marketing. Trying to work within my extremely low budget and be effective as well. Then there is this Blog. I will be writing about the Oceanside and Vista Communities as that is where I live and will be "farming" (interesting considering my desires in Washington) so that I will eventually be the community expert that people turn to for places to go, eat, enjoy and work. This area is AMAZING in reality. Nearby there are local farms and farm-stands, amazing Farmers Markets, fantastic beaches and a growing culinary scene that I really love. I hope that you will visit me on this blog often and make as many family friendly comments as you like. I don't mind disagreement and I don't mind if you promote yourself here either. If you are in the area or going to be in the area, please let me and the readers know. I hope you enjoy the content and if you would help me spread the word about the Blog, I would be grateful.

North County San Diego is an AMAZING place with lots of things to do and places to visit. If you have questions or want me to see something, please let me know.

A New Beginning

I am embarking on a new journey with this post. Past blogs have shown the work that April and I did on our mini farm and to be sure, the work was hard, but REWARDING. I loved Port Orchard. I did not enjoy the long commute, though the actual commute on the boat brought me new friends and a daily boat ride on the Puget Sound. So while I did not like the hours involved and being away from the farm and the family for so long, there were many pluses to the trip daily. That said, we were WAY TO FAR removed from our family and friends and so, last July we packed up the ABF Truck and left the mini farm and headed to Oceanside, California. I must say, that even I have nestled, and settled in to a new home. A place that I certainly never thought I would return to live in, but, extremely happy to be here. Family, friends and a new church are making the transition so enjoyable that my thoughts of the farm are fewer and fewer. I look to the future and what will be, rather than looking behind.

In that year since we moved, I have found myself in a position with Fairmont that I did not want, but welcomed as it gave fuel to the desire to become my own boss again, FINALLY. I have studied and received my California Real Estate license and I am VERY excited about the future indeed. I have found Carrington Real Estate Services in Carlsbad, CA and have hitched my Agent Wagon to their development program. I have held my first open house and learned a great deal. The office in Carlsbad is vibrant and led by a lady who simply does not seem to rest until all who want success achieve it. And that is why I connected with them. I needed Mentoring, and Linda was ready, willing and able to deliver that. She is patient, knowledgeable and energetic, all qualities someone like me needs as I learn the ropes.

This Blog is part journey in learning the Real Estate business and part exploration of the areas that I live and hope to serve helping families and individuals find their homes, houses and investments. My success will be shared with those who are seeking to find their homes, their dreams and the place where they will create memories that will be ingrained in their story that they share with their family and friends. Making memorable moments that last a lifetime.

I do hope you will join me on this journey. I hope that if you or anyone you know is looking to buy, sell or just look at Real Estate in North San Diego County, that my name will be the first to come up. You deserve someone dedicated to your dreams, memories and life. That is what I am passionate about. I have done if for moments on vacation or out for a night for over 30 years. Now I want to bring that passion and dedication to memorable moments to you and your family.

Many thanks for reading, there will be more to follow.
